ROL Handroll Bar - A Love That Grew On Me Okay, I'll be honest--the first time I came to ROL, I didn't get the hype. I love raw, fresh fish and was genuinely underwhelmed during my first visit. The rolls felt... meh. I left confused, wondering if I was missing something everyone else seemed to love. But then I came back. And again. And by the second or third time, it hit me: you have to eat it as they suggest haha. If you let it sit and start chatting (guilty), the nori loses that crisp snap, the flavors dull, and the whole experience shifts. Once I cracked that code and trained myself to eat first, talk later, I fell in love. My absolute favorites now? The toro (I dream about it), the spicy tuna, and the spicy salmon. They are packed with flavor and just melt in your mouth. That said, the albacore roll still isn't for me--it's way too creamy and just doesn't sit right with my tastebuds, no matter how many times I've tried. The staff is super nice and accommodating, but fair warning--they're always busy, so come with a little patience and understanding. They move fast, but it's because they're trying to get everyone the freshest bites possible. All in all, ROL is a place you grow to love. It's not your average sushi spot--it's quick, intentional, and all about that fresh bite right here, right now. If you give it a few chances and learn how to eat their way, you'll get it. Trust me--I was a skeptic, and now I'm hooked. --From skeptic to stan

SO delicious. Everything about this place is 5 stars. The food, the service and the ambience are all top notch. It's great that you can join the waitlist online, we only ended up waiting 30 minutes for a prime dinner time. All of the handrolls were fresh, high quality, and will leave you craving more. We got the blue crab, salmon, toro & truffle, scallop, and spicy tuna. Our wonderful server Vincent told us a pro tip that you can see cucumbers and crunchy onions to any of the handrolls for free! It was our first time dining here, he was very attentive and knowledgeable which made our experience so great! Highly recommended this spot!

My family: 2 adults + 1 10yr-old kid went for lunch on a weekday. Because we are 3 ppl, it took longer than we expected to get into the table more than 45mins. The servicer did come out to apology for the long wait several times and offered us a free appetizer when we finally sat. Food: Quality is good and fresh. 5 stars. We ordered 3 items from the lunch specials. Service: All servers are friendly. Ambiance: Nice and clean. The only negative is the seats are limited. If you are looking for a big and comfortable seating experience, ROL may not be the best choice. Still highly recommend and will return.

Wow I really enjoyed Roll. Checked in on yelp . Really busy on a Friday night during lent. 2 hours from check in until seated so plan accordingly. Vince was super nice. Appetizers. Fries bomb. Tuna on Krispy rice so good also. Cucumbers excellent Rolls. Unagi. Blue crab. Toro. Actually I really enjoyed all of them. So fresh and crispy. Don't sleep on the yuzu sauce for a dollar so worth it

First time having their lunch special and loved it for the value! Came with 4 hand rolls that I was able to substitute, miso soup, and about 15 edamame. My son had 3 hand rolls with just sushi rice and dips it in soy sauce. These rolls are a good alternative to the $5 kids box they provide! Isabelle was our server and service was amazing!

Went with a friend for lunch to try the $15 lunch special. All I can say is it was worth it! It filled me up. The edamame was so good. I had to order the yuzu kosho sauce on the side because it's my favorite. Service was great. We were in and out really fast. It was also busy during a weekday late lunch but we joined the waitlist earlier so got seated right when we arrived. Overall vibes are great. Would come back again for either the lunch special, kaisendon, or the donburis!

One of my favorite lunch spots in Irvine with really fresh fish and great drinks. This location doesn't accept reservations, but you can get on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time. There is limited seating available since everyone sits at the counter, but it's fun being able to watch all of the food get made. All of the drinks that I've tried are very tasty and some of the soft drinks (dragon fruit lychee lemonade and iced green tea) are refillable. They have a few lunch specials, but the kaisendon is by far my favorite. It's piled with tons of fresh fish and the halibut bone broth that they add in at the end is the perfect finish to the meal.

Food is amazing here! Fresh fish and sushi rice that accompanies it so well! The kizami wasabi is an amazing addition to our rolls since it gives it a pungent spice that elevates the hand rolls!

Toro hand roll is worth the sub in the 5 set! Our other favorites are the blue crab and the crispy rice appetizer. Restaurant is clean, efficient, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Add this place to your sushi rotation, you won't regret it.
